NOTICE: 15 September 2016: Invitations to two Bring and Sing events
1. Sat 5 November: Oxford Bach Choir, Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony, on Saturday 5 November
2. Sat 15th October, Concerts at St Andrew’s, Brahms’ A German Requiem (in English).
- Oxford Bach Choir’s next thrilling Come and Sing event will be Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony, on Saturday 5 November 2016. Come and join us to rehearse and perform this thrilling work in one day under the inspirational baton of Paul Spicer, conductor of the Birmingham Bach Choir, the Whitehall Choir, and conductor of the Petersfield Musical Festival. He is much sought after as a choral conductor, particularly for choral workshops and his English Choral Experience workshops, so we are delighted that he is coming to Oxford for this event. This will take place on Saturday 5 November 2016 at St John the Evangelist Church, Iffley Road, Oxford. As in previous events, this will consist of a day of workshops, ending up with a run through performance, which you can invite friends and family to come and hear. We have two good, young soloists for the run-through performance, and a stalwart pianist who will emulate the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (other orchestras are available!) throughout the workshop and performance!
Do advertise this event to your choir members, and I attach a booking form and programme for the day for your convenience, together with a poster for the event, which you might like to copy and distribute to your members, and anyone else you can think of, and we would be delighted to see them.

Gift Aid (updated May 2016)
Dear choir member
Many thanks to those who have completed a Gift Aid form: this enables me to claim from HMRC a sum equal to 25% of your subscription. The full annual payment of £155 comprises a tuition fee of £17 (which purchases a benefit; thus ineligible for Gift Aid) and a subscription of £138 (which HMRC, as a concession, treat as a gift of money; thus eligible for Gift Aid). Therefore please note that the amount to declare, where required by HMRC, is £138 (not £155). Especial thanks to those who have made donations in addition to their subscription: these can be declared in full and I can claim Gift Aid on the whole amount donated.
New members who joined part-way through the season will have paid a reduced annual payment. The figures apply pro rata, so those who paid £90 for example, and have completed a Gift Aid form, should declare £80 for Gift Aid purposes. (The remaining £10 is the tuition fee.)
I am pleased to report that our Gift Aid claim for the 2014/15 tax year has been successful and our bank account has been credited with £2198 by HMRC.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at rehearsal,
