Harpenden Choral Society is a highly regarded amateur choir with an established reputation for quality performances with professional soloists and orchestras. Since its formation in 1975 the choir has grown from strength to strength and our repertoire now includes most of the major choral works as well as some lesser-known works and contemporary pieces.
We give four concerts a year including a carol concert and hold a open workshop or Bring and Sing event once a year. Most of our concerts are in the Harpenden area but the choir has also performed further afield. We recently sang Mendelssohn’s Elijah at the Alban Arena, St Albans and performed at the English Music Festival in Dorchester-upon-Thames. >> What’s on: Concerts 2016-17
We have about 90 members and rehearse on Tuesdays at 8pm, under the excellent direction of our acclaimed Musical Director John Andrews, and superb accompanist Vivien Powles. >> More about our musical team

We are a registered charity. Our aim is to encourage public knowledge and appreciation of choral music through concert performances of a wide range of classical works and through open workshops. We invite the audience at out Christmas carol concert to donate to a local charity through a retiring collection.
