John Andrews was appointed as Musical Director in 2006. He has proved to be an inspirational conductor who makes rehearsals fun whilst working us hard. Rehearsal Accompanist

Vivien Powles holds both an LTCL Performer’s Diploma and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accompaniment from Trinity College of Music, London. She was privileged to study for these with Aaron Shorr, now Director of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Vivien has had many years of experience as a ballet accompanist, having worked for Harpenden Dance School and the Carter School of Dance, as well as accompanying ballet examinations for other schools in Hertfordshire and beyond.  She has also worked with singers and instrumentalists of all ages, specialising in examination and recital work.

Vivien has now completed 30 years as Harpenden Choral Society’s rehearsal accompanist. She also regularly performs with them as a singer, as well as being a member of both the Danesborough Chorus and the Priory Singers, with whom she sings cathedral services around the UK
